Using Rulers in the Classroom

Using Rulers in the Classroom

Use a ruler to connect a measurement on paper with an object students can handle.

Three classroom exercises

  • Measure the sides of a rectangle, then calculate its perimeter.
  • Draw the same line in centimeters and inches, and compare the readings.
  • Draw perpendicular lines with an L-square or a T-square and triangle.

Choose rulers with the units and sizes required by the lesson. For a class order, list the tool and quantity needed at each desk.
