PRODUCT GUIDE

Choose and use this instrument with confidence.

Build right angles and pattern references from a registered square.

The Lance Half-Scale Aluminum L-Square gives patternmakers and layout teams a long arm and short arm in one rigid aluminum instrument. Use the inside or outside edges to establish perpendicular references without switching between separate straight rules.

Choose the right configuration

Choose the 12 x 6 inch or 30 x 15 centimeter half-scale version to match your pattern system. Available configurations: 12 x 6", 30 x 15 cm.

Product details

  • Material: Aluminum
  • Finish: Anodized, scratch-resistant aluminum
  • Measurement system: Half-scale English or Metric by variant
  • Graduations: One edge on two sides; half-scale calibration
  • Applications: Half-scale pattern creation

Care, warranty, and returns

Store flat or fully supported so the measuring body, square head, or curve is not bent or twisted. Wipe with a soft dry cloth after use; if a lightly damp cloth is needed, dry the instrument immediately. Lance instruments include a 30-day warranty. Returns are accepted within 30 days when the product is unused.

Square a pattern guideline

A square aligned with a baseline draws a perpendicular line through a marked pointAlign one arm with the baselineDraw the perpendicularKeep the corner registered

Original schematic, not a scale drawing or a dimensional specification for the tool.

Keep one reference as you draw the next

  1. On paper, draw the baseline specified in your pattern and mark where the cross-line belongs.
  2. Align one arm of an L-square with the baseline. Keep the corner registered while you align the other arm through your mark.
  3. Hold the tool steady and draw the cross-line in pencil. Recheck the baseline alignment before measuring along the new axis.

Using a T-square instead? Register its head against a straight board edge. An irregular or bowed board edge is not a reliable reference.

Suitable for / not documented for

Suitable for

  • Half-scale pattern creation

Use an L-square to establish two axes from a common corner. Compare a T-square when the job calls for a head registered against a straight work-surface edge.

Not documented for

  • Tolerance-critical inspection: Accuracy and tolerance are not yet documented for this product family and size.
  • Knife or rotary-cutter guide: No cutting-safe edge specification is documented.

Use these guides for pencil/pen marking. Do not run a knife or rotary blade against a calibrated edge without confirmation that the selected SKU is designed for that use. Slip-resistant backing alone does not establish blade compatibility.
