PRODUCT GUIDE

Choose and use this instrument with confidence.

Establish perpendicular reference lines for garment-pattern layout with an aluminum L-square.

Register one arm to the pattern baseline and use the other to construct a right-angle reference. Choose the same units as your pattern instructions; a half-scale L-square is a separate instrument for half-scale work, not simply a smaller substitute. One selected L-square is supplied; paper, pencils and other patternmaking tools are separate.

Choose the right configuration

The live selector retains the current catalog option labels and SKU identifiers. Two options have unresolved source discrepancies: LS-012-LAN is labelled 12 × 6 inches while an older description says 12 × 6.5; LS-615M-LAN is labelled 60 × 35cm while the dimensional record says 615 × 355mm. Those labels are not verified arm measurements. Request confirmation before relying on either for exact fit. The other named options are 24 × 14 inches and 30 × 15cm; stock and price are shown for each selection.

Square a pattern guideline

A square aligned with a baseline draws a perpendicular line through a marked pointAlign one arm with the baselineDraw the perpendicularKeep the corner registered

Original schematic, not a scale drawing or a dimensional specification for the tool.

Keep one reference as you draw the next

  1. On paper, draw the baseline specified in your pattern and mark where the cross-line belongs.
  2. Align one arm of an L-square with the baseline. Keep the corner registered while you align the other arm through your mark.
  3. Hold the tool steady and draw the cross-line in pencil. Recheck the baseline alignment before measuring along the new axis.

Using a T-square instead? Register its head against a straight board edge. An irregular or bowed board edge is not a reliable reference.

Suitable for / not documented for

Suitable for

  • Pattern layout
  • Right-angle layout

Use an L-square to establish two axes from a common corner. Compare a T-square when the job calls for a head registered against a straight work-surface edge.

Not documented for

  • Tolerance-critical inspection: Accuracy and tolerance are not yet documented for this product family and size.
  • Knife or rotary-cutter guide: No cutting-safe edge specification is documented.

Use these guides for pencil/pen marking. Do not run a knife or rotary blade against a calibrated edge without confirmation that the selected SKU is designed for that use. Slip-resistant backing alone does not establish blade compatibility.
